Tedious Tattoo

Saturday evening stillness
Unbroken by the only friend
Who can be switched on at will
The idiot box does not please
Solitary friend abandoned
To cool unconnected silence

The disconnect from reality
that incessantly repeats
The pattern becoming a drumroll
Known, acknowledged beats
Tedious in their demands
To join in the tattoo

The script of the known devil
Eating away the unknown
Glittering baubles volleying
Across lush grounds of green
The predictable dance of discourse
Keywords checked off one by one

The Silence, it is black
Glimmerings that haunt may
Have the beginnings of stories
That speak of desire and want
Unfulfilled. For happiness tells no tales
That slake.

(Naah, I had a bril Saturday.. these are but words)
