Come Sit with Me

Come, sit with me awhile
Let us shoot the breeze
Or if there is none today
We could unwind that crease
That gets in the way of us

Or let us not, maybe
Come together at all
Let us groom the crease
Give it warts and all
For who wants company
When there is drama on call

Oh, we don’t need the company
We are loners after all
Misanthropes and other such tropes
Who else can match our call
To the stratosphere and beyond
We lie above the mistral

But to sit in contiguous cohere
Silently strumming, seemingly solo
A quiet joy beyond compare
Come, sit with me awhile
We will share some air,
And maybe, a little smile.
